This is what Lu Picard the founder of East Coast Assistance Dogs has to say about Ford... "Ford, a gorgeous male black lab came to ECAD from Ansar Labradors in CT during the summer of 2007.
As a puppy, Ford quickly bonded with a student trainer from Green Chimneys. Ford was a quick learner and became one of the best pups in his class.
After a few months of training at Green Chimneys, he transitioned up to another ECADemy school; MercyFirst.
At MercyFirst, as Ford was learning he also made a great difference in the life of his student trainer. Student A met Ford right after receiving a long term sentence from a judge. He was devastated and angry. So, he showed his frustration the only way he knew --- by acting out in school.
When he first saw Ford, a strong, black lab, the student A immediately fell in love with him. The student A almost immediately changed his attitude in school, so he could be with his new best friend, Ford.
Ford was always happy to see his trainer, even if the trainer had a bad day. The power of a happy dog on an angry or a sad kid (or adult) is priceless.
Ford successfully completed his training in 2009, and now lives with a loving family in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Ford’s breeder caretaker, Randy, has been an ECAD volunteer long before he became Ford’s proud father.
Today, Randy is a proud grandfather of two beautiful litters. Ford had a litter with a yellow lab, Glory, and another one with Sassy, another yellow lab.
His puppies are all still in training with ECADemy programs.
Each weekend when Randy takes Captain home Ford gets to be daddy to his puppy.
Together, Ford and Randy teach Captain proper house manners."
